Where are you from?
I am originally from England and moved to Oklahoma City about 12 years ago when I finished school.
Did you come to America for school?
No, I graduated with a B.S. in Biological Imaging from Derby university, England and moved to Oklahoma shortly after.
So how did Directing Design come out of a degree in biology?
When I moved here, I started pursuing design and science as a career field, and began teaching design software and HTML as an adjunct in the local community colleges while exploring my options. In doing so, I began building relationships and realized a knack for networking. Soon after, Directing Design was born.
So when you’re not directing the design, what are you doing?
Mountain biking, watching movies, playing the piano, reading, drinking beer, video games, reading….not all at once, of course.
What would you say you’re known for?
Being goofy and being kind.
What do people find surprising about you?
That I’m actually very serious beneath the ridiculous façade.
Random question of the interview…. Mountains or beaches?
Hard question… probably have to say mountains. I do love beaches, but it’s kind of a lazy experience. I like going to the mountains and walking, climbing or biking.
Shawn Davis Davis - Designer
Are you from Oklahoma?
Yes, I grew up in Mustang.
Where did you get your training?
I studied Commercial & Graphic Art at Canadian Valley Tech Center, as well as completing other courses such as mechanical drawing, architecture, and art .
How long have you been in the design field?
About a decade, which has helped me become fluent with many types of software and picked up some very useful CSS & HTML knowledge.
Is your name really ‘Shawn Davis Davis’?
No! Michael had it listed in his contacts that way for some reason, and now it’s become a silly joke. It’s just Davis. Shawn Davis.
When you’re not conjuring up eye-catching designs, what do you do?
I’m a drummer in a new metal band called Cultrix, and I play lots of video games.
What do people find surprising about you?
I can’t think of anything…that predictable?
Okay, Star Wars or Star Trek?
Star Wars, definitely. I like both, but Star Wars for sure.

You’re not from here, are you?
No, I’m an Oklahoma transplant by way of Texas, originally from Alaska. I’m an Alaskan girl at heart, despite my hatred of the cold weather.
From where did you graduate?
Texas A&M University…great school academically, but I was definitely a fish out of water.
What’s your idea of the perfect day outside of work?
I’d start with a good, long run, followed by a nice cup of coffee in good company. I’d try out a new recipe on my taste tester, and then we’d spend the rest of the day outside with a good book and some wine.
What’s your specialty?
In cooking? Probably breads, cakes, and candies, since I like projects.
How about running, as long as we’re being specific?
Falling down…kidding, kind of! Long distance. I just finished my second 24 hour run.
What would you say you’re known for?
Clumsiness, inability to sit still long, and being a little bit granola.
And for you….Creamy or crunchy?
Crunchy, unquestionably.
